Birth Doula In Rochester, NY
Background

Birth doulas have been used throughout centuries as a form of emotional and physical support during labor and delivery. While the term "doula" has recently become popular, the role of doulas has existed for centuries (i.e., mothers, sisters, grandparents, and friends playing an important and helpful role in holding a mother through labor).
While working at a nonprofit organization in downtown Los Angeles in 2017, I became intrigued as to how the birth experience could be profoundly related to the prenatal and postnatal period. This curiosity led me to DONA's birth and postpartum doula training - since which I have spent the past ten years supporting women (in partnership, single, and teen mothers) in labor across various birth settings - hospitals, homes, and birth centers.
