My Background in Maternal & Child Health

ABOUT ME
Stephanie Kiesow-Edoh, MA, MPH, CLE
Inspired by the power of presence and guidance within the birthing sphere, I believe the role of a doula is to support families during one of the most transformative moments in their lives.

Over the past ten years, I have worked with families and individuals from different backgrounds with the aim of empowering women through evidence-based data. A true believer of both science and intuition, I find that there often resides a place for both. When women feel educated on topics related to their bodies and allow their intuition to guide them, they feel more confident entering into the birthing experience as well as navigating the new responsibilities and decisions of parenthood.

Working for the past eight years as a birth and postpartum doula within the Los Angeles, California and Upstate New York communities has been balanced with establishing my career in maternal and child health (as the Associate Director at UCLA's new Center for Reproductive Science, Health & Education, as a Lecturer for the Institute of Society and Genetics at UCLA, and as a Research Coordinator for the non-profit organization, LA Best Babies Network).
The tools and modalities I practice in the field directly translate to the topics I teach within the courses I design, allowing for my work to be cyclical. As a strong advocate for gender equality and reproductive justice, I have experience working on maternal and child health projects both domestically and abroad in Jodhpur and Chennai, India (on topics including: menstrual health, pregnancy and postpartum education, stress and anxiety during pregnancy, and parent-child dyads).

My daughters, Calla and Aria, are my greatest inspiration and keep me rooted in the sacredness of this work.

I look forward to connecting with you!

Warm regards,
Stephanie Kiesow-Edoh
